George C. Marshall High School is located near Interstate 495 and Va. 7 in Northern Virginia. Founded in 1962, the school has an academic, athletic and extracurricular program that stands up to the legacy of its namesake general and former secretary of state. Marshall High prides itself on a hands-on, project-based learning approach. Students from the Tysons Corner and Pimmit Hills areas can participate in an International Baccalaureate program and a STEM Academy. The language program has seven different tracks, including American Sign Language. The school also offers no-cost summer tutoring programs and wide-ranging technical programs, including a nursing program, culinary arts program and cutting-edge information technology. The Marshall High Statesmen teams are known for football and cross country and track and field. While their peers race across the finish line to add to the school's five state championships, the tennis and basketball teams are also forces to be reckoned with. The theater program is just as impressive, boasting six orchestras and bands.

This school would be so much better if it wasn't IB. They also need to hire better teachers and better administration. Teachers are extremely hit or miss.

The science department has well rounded teachers that really care about their students futures; however, the math department needs to hire more teachers that can teach IB math classes.

I went to Marshall High School for 4 years. It is a school very focused on academics compared to other schools in the district. However, I think that the school lacked the inclusiveness/resources toward everyone attending which I feel hindered the academic abilities of some students.

This school touts and publicizes that it is inclusive and welcoming but it's really not. If you are of a certain socioeconomic standard that follows the stereotypical academic student, you will be supported but if you are in any way different, you will be looked upon negatively though they will verb...

As a parent of a high school student, I couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience at Marshal. From day one, we’ve seen strong communication from the staff and a genuine commitment to student success. The teachers are passionate about what they do and consistently go the extra mile to make...

Had to transfer. I got bullied both online and in person for a rumor that started within the school. I went to my counselor for support with this situation, and she told me to talk it out, I did, and the girl started another rumor that led to me being sexually harassed (physically) by guys in the ha...

During my time at the school, as an African American student, I have faced immense racism from students and from staff as well. Ranging from stereotypes to even the N-Word. Being that the school is around 6% black, if you are a black student I would likely avoid this school at all costs, because the...
