Weddington Middle School, operated by Union County public schools (UCPS), is rated as one of the top middle schools in the state. The school serves 1,300 students in grades six through eight, with a student-teacher ratio of 21:1. It first opened its doors in 1998, in a modern facility located on the same campus as the town’s elementary and high schools. Success came rapidly, and in 1999 Weddington Middle School was named an Honor School of Excellence; it maintained that honor every year since then. In 2010 it ranked number one in the state in reading and math test scores. Today, the school is best known for its classical education, supportive environment, and strong focus on academics. Weddington Middle School students have also won a number of awards in the arts and athletics The school supports a diverse offering of electives and extracurricular activities, with specialties like robotics, dance and swim team. Booster clubs, family involvement and an active Parent Teacher Student Organization figure prominently in the successful execution of these activities with fundraising activities year round. The school gets high marks from students and families for its academic and athletic drive, and lives out the motto of all UCPS - “Preparing all students to succeed.”

Just don’t go to this school I get bullied constantly and the teachers don’t care don’t go!!! The school lunch made kids throw up cause of how bad it is!!

I was bullied several times here. I reported it to admin and they said they would help if I reported it again but failed to when I did so. The counselors barley helped with actual mental health issues. the counselors office was comforting but still. This school needs to get a better disciplinary act...
