“Panther PRIDE!” The Pep Squad’s cheers echo the signs you’ll see throughout Memphis’ South Park Elementary, where PRIDE stands for “Positive, Respectful individuals who demonstrate Integrity, show strong Determination and strive for Excellence daily.”
These high standards meet the ears of about 455 students each year, ranging from pre-K to fifth grade. The classrooms are full of children from the school zone of western Colonial Willow and eastern Kimball, as the school is situated on the border of the two neighborhoods on Getwell Road.
Reading and math scores tend to sit just below Memphis-Shelby County Schools’ average, but upward trends in student performance reflect just how much South Park Elementary has going for it academically. A 12:1 teacher-student ratio and ESL-certified staff are just two factors in the awards the school has won for student achievement and growth. Thanks to Title I funding, the school boasts improvements in curricula every year, and its state-of-the-art computer science instruction is funded by the Amazon Future Engineer program.

This school is a very bad school . My children's GIRL and boy is going to this school . They are being bullied , talked about and more . The teachers are calling my daughter names . It is just not Wright at all , I love my kids , and I hate that they are being treated so badly . This school never wr...

This school has some amazing and truly dedicated teachers. However, the principal is not fit for leadership. She is constantly changing rules and plans and does not have a positive relationship with any studens and very few, if any, teachers. She is more worried about test scores than anything else....
