Tucked away in a residential neighborhood with a city park in its backyard, Willow Oaks Elementary boasts a quiet location that belies the buzz of activity inside.
Though its school zone is geographically small, Willow Oaks hosts around 650 kids in its halls every day. Most hail from the neighborhoods of Colonial Willow and Colonial Acres, but as part of Memphis-Shelby County’s Optional School program, the school draws students from all over the city.
Like all Optional Schools, Willow Oaks Elementary offers a rigorous academic education supplemented with additional themed areas of study. The award-winning school draws many for its two enrichment themes: arts and technology.

My son has been at Willow Oaks for four years. It is really a great school. 3rd grade was hard for him but, his grades and reading scores have improved with the help of the staff at Willow Oaks. He jumped up a whole grade level in 6 months (in reading).
