My experience in the Monticello Community District has been wonderful. I have not had any terrible experiences at this school. The students and faculty have made me feel welcome and loved the whole time here.

Monticello High School is a very great school and while I have only been here for two years, it has made me feel like I am at home. I transferred to Monticello my Junior year of high school. I am a dancer and my old school did not have as advanced of a dance program as Monticello did so I made a tough decision to switch. I was a little nervous walking in to the school. I did not know a lot of people besides the girls I dance with. It did not take long for me to make friends. Everyone was so kind to me and made me feel included in all of the activities. The teachers also made me feel very welcome and made sure I was okay with my full transition. Sporting events are also very exciting. The student section is a lot of fun and there is a bond that we all have with each other that I have never had before. I love Monticello High School and I hope anyone that comes through these doors has as good of experience as I did.

I really like Monticello. I like it because it feels as if the teachers care about you and your education. They help me when struggling and reach out to ask if I need any help from them if I'm struggling in a class. But teachers are always willing to talk and are there for you if you need anything. They offer lots of ways to help get your grade up. They have after-school tutoring with the teachers if you need help. It's very easy to talk to the teachers about anything because there's that one-on-one relationship that's easy to have because of being in a small school so we all feel cared about.

I see the most recent review is 9 years old. Much has changed in the past decade. MHS still strives to meet the needs of all students. Some of the steps taken are: Partnership with Kirkwood allowing students to earn tuition free college credit while in high school, online courses, improved technolog...
