The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Patton High School has been the best school for me. Teachers are all very caring but a few are a little mean. The academics are pretty well compared to the other high schools in the area.

Good staff and management. I feel safe on campus and I feel like most teachers understand what they are teaching and how to teach it. Most students are well-behaved and eager to learn. Overall, a wonderful educational environment.

I enjoy the students there. They are very accepting & friendly. I would like the administration to be the same but they are very closed minded and bias. I would like more diversity too.
It is a good school yet the only problems I’ve noticed from students and staff alike is how truly degrading some students can be to others. The teachers like to make smart remarks to students, and the principal only seems to come up with more strict rules and guidelines every so often that only nega...

The comment written below is making statements that are simply false. "the first African American Football Coach was greeted with racial slurs" is absolutely untrue. Patton is an OK High school - only average really. Almost all the teachers came from Freedom High (the sister school to Patton in Morganton). Those teachers were good at Freedom, and they continue to do a good job at Patton. There is a rumor that Patton is "a better school" than Freedom, but statist...
