GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Average High School. Southwest Iowa smalltown school isn't what I wanted but I got it. I prefer a bigger school with more diversity but its good for those who want a smaller school district.

Mount Ayr is a small high school where everyone knows everyone else. It is a lot of fun to hang out with friends during extracurriculars and class projects. There are a lot of opportunities in Mount Ayr especially since it is such a small school. Kids enjoy participating in different extracurriculars and clubs around the school. Members of the community also enjoy getting involved in the different clubs all around the school because they like making a difference.

In my experience, concern for motivation of apathetic students was a little hit or miss, depending upon teacher, but that probably is nothing unique for seconday education. All in all, t...
