GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

There was a lot of change that happened when I arrived at this school. The teaching style was affected because of covid and it never returned to what was marketed to us in what the school would be like. The workload is massive and requires strong work ethic. When I applied for this school I was told it was project based and you will learn through self research and presentation. When I attended this school none of that happened and each year great teachers would be removed and transferred to different schools leaving little to no premade structure for the courses.

This school has a diversity. There are many clubs and, if you want, you can make your own clubs. The school is small so you can meet majority of the school. You can also make close relationships with teachers.

The school I attend has the sole focus of getting their students ready for college. MECHS offers its students dual credit courses due to their partnership with Saint Phillips College in San Antonio where students receive college credits from the staff of both schools. The Student to staff ratio in the high school is in the student's favor and while the staff is experts in their field they often have casual relations with their students (No intimidation). MECHS is a small campus and lacks the facilities necessary for competitive sports though it compensates for this in its UIL opportunities and its robotics program. MECHS has always accepted students regardless of race or wealth and drills hard the importance of group work into its students from freshmen and up until senior year.

I am a senior going to MECHS! It has been such a journey. This school has been so supportive of everything. They encourage you to strive, be creative, and take initiative. Even if you are struggling mentally there are so many resources to use whether it be from the actual college associated AKA Nort...

Currently I am taking a COLLEGE class at St.Phillips (sociology). The school provided a FREE college book that i can take home adn use for the...

This is a wonderful school. I have seen where another parent put that this is a discipline center. This is absolutely not true. These kids have to apply to get into Alamo while they are in the 8th grade, and cannot enter unless they started in the 9th grade. If you have been in trouble, you cannot g...
