Being at Hanover is a big opportunity to be open and express your thoughts and the different ways you can find your self the clubs and activities are very important and interesting the teachers are good it's just some are very self centered as in safety it's like a 6.5 out of 10

I recently moved to NC my junior year and attended New Hanover High School. Overall since then I have made great connections with students and teachers and have received a great amount of support and encouragement to learn the best that I can!

I started at New Hanover this fall as senior. Immediately I noticed the lack of care for transfer students and horrible technology problems. Most teachers will not email you back, and if they do it's to refer you to someone else. Another huge problem is the overall building. It's very dirty and lacks on regular cleanings. There is also a very big problem with safety. Many times we have gone into a lockdown because of a gun being on campus or someone threating the school.

If you want to sit and worry about your child’s well being all day long, a two hour bus ride, this school is for you. Otherwise, I hope you can afford private school.

I actually wish I could give this school a 0. If you are looking for a school for your child that is Special Needs this is not the school. They act like they do not have time for your child. What a difference a year makes. Two of my children attend NHHS now, and I could not be more pleased. The new principal has come on to the scene with great ideas to motivate staff and students. The school is safer, cleaner, and doing much better across the board. The freshman academy has been amazing...
