The best part of New Hanover High School was the Lyceum Program. They helped me get prepared for college through the use of AP courses and rigorous course work. It helped me manage my time to the point where I could complete all my work before I even got home. However, the safety wasn't the best. There were many times when there would be fights that just weren't being taken care of. Towards my senior year, they really got a hold of this, and it got better.

I love New Hanover high school. I think it is a great school as long as you put the effort in and apply yourself. The main about the academics at New Hanover is that you can shape how ever you like. If you don't care about school or your future it can be that way; if you want to go to a good college and are eager to learn than New Hanover will provide that opportunity and environment. It's all about what you make of it.

If you want to sit and worry about your child’s well being all day long, a two hour bus ride, this school is for you. Otherwise, I hope you can afford private school.

When you need to talk to someone in the Special Education Department no one returns your call. You can call e...

What a difference a year makes. Two of my children attend NHHS now, and I could not be more pleased. The new principal has come on to the scene with great ideas to motivate staff and students. The school is safer, cleaner, and doing much better across the board. The freshman academy has been amazing...
