The Mauro-Sheridan Interdistrict Magnet School is a Pre-K through eighth-grade school in a residential section of Westville. Part of the New Haven Public School District, the school is also included in the Connecticut School Choice Program, which gives parents additional options for their children’s education instead of being assigned to a school by the district. Mauro-Sheridan is a themed school and concentrates on science, technology and communication for their educational programming. With nearly 40 full-time classroom teachers, there is a 13-1 student-teacher ratio.
Students can participate in many programs and activities during and after school. The Daedream Theater Arts Company, which is housed in the school, is a full theater company that focuses on character building through the arts and completes an original musical each year. Student journalists produce a school newspaper covering activities, events and staff news as part of the Got Lit? journalism program. Another recent program, Girls on the Run, is offered to girls interested in running and promotes physical and mental health connections.
Students at Mauro-Sheridan are required to wear uniforms; each grade wears a different color. The school is housed in the Dr. Susan S. Sheridan School building, initially a junior high school named for the first New Haven educator to receive a Ph.D. from Yale.

Mauro Sheridan prides on respect for one another and making learning fun! The students on the halls always are polite in passing and willing help nthe teachers are available to the student and teachers at all times. It's one big family!
