Opened in 1891, Holy Name of Jesus School has occupied several spots on what is now the campus for Loyola University over the past 125 years. It’s no wonder, then, that the school and college collaborate on a regular basis. Currently, Holy Name enrolls 549 students in pre-kindergarten through seventh grade and has a student-teacher ratio of 17:1. Located at 6325 Cromwell Place in the Uptown area of New Orleans, the school is coeducational and accredited through Cognia, a global accreditation agency. Holy Name doesn’t just believe in helping to develop a child academically; they also believe in the importance of familial involvement in a student’s education, which is why the school endeavors to foster meaningful relationships with parents as well as students. There’s also a robust enrichment program involving several different areas for students including art, music, physical education, library, foreign language, and theater as well as more than a dozen clubs and extracurriculars to join. Holy Name takes a blended approach to education, as their classes are interactive through technology and activities. Each student is assigned a Chromebook to help develop real-world skills and is taught in a classroom with interactive white boards. The school’s lower ratio of students to teachers allows educators to get to know each child’s interests and ways of learning to facilitate better outcomes for every pupil.

We are very pleased with HNJ School! We have a child in the Little Gators 1-year old class and a son in PK3. They are both love their teachers (and we do too!!) Both kids are happy to go to school every morning. The community is very inviting. The school does a lot of fun events/fundraisers throughout the school year so it's a great opportunity to get to know other parents, teachers, and faculty. My 3-year-old as learned so much this year, I am very impressed with the school's curriculum. We love Holy Name and happy it goes all the way up to 7th grade.

I was looking for a catholic education with a school culture that was diverse in both faculty and student body. Although the student body is somewhat diverse the staff is not. In my opinion some staff members are not well versed in the field of education and are just "winging it" in the classroom......

If I could scream from the rooftops what school to stay away from, it'd be this one. Tuition is low and you get what you pay for. The majority of the staff are uncaring and do not take the time to "get it right". You should not have to send your child to school not knowing if they are safe and being...

Our son just completed PreK-4. He is fairly shy, but had a great experience this year. The teachers are nurturing, yet promote independence. He learned a lot this year and gained some confidence.
