Located just behind one of the oldest continuously operating synagogues in the United States, Rooted School is an innovative four-year public high school focused on helping students gain skills for both college and an occupation. The students sign a contract upon entering the program stating that they pledge to have been admitted into at least one college and have at least one offer of full-time employment by the time they graduate. Their philosophy is to help students build their own paths to financial security. To achieve these goals, the school focuses on three core tenants: self-directed learning, industry-based credentials and internships, and project-based learning. These are combined to help students learn at their own pace without feeling left behind or constrained while facing real-world challenges. Rooted students have the opportunity to gain experience in many technology-related industries before competing for internships and entry-level jobs with the school's partners, and 84% of students earn industry-certified credentials in their freshman year. Since beginning in 2014 as a 15-student pilot program in New Orleans, Rooted School has earned a B grade from the Louisiana Department of Education and is considered above average for the Orleans Parish School District. Extracurriculars include Youth Run NOLA and various club sports to help students be active after focusing their studies on STEM and Technology Programming and Development. The school also offers buses to transport students to and from school each day.

When I started going to this school it didn't seem like all that but when I got to my senior year they started to fund student-based businesses. They were able to help me get started with a lawnmowing business.
