Roughly 500 pre-K through eighth grade students are enrolled in Samuel J. Green Charter School, located in Uptown New Orleans’ Freret Street corridor. It is one of five members in the network of FirstLine Schools – a charter school operator in New Orleans. The school focuses on college and career preparation while emphasizing racial equity and nurturing the whole student.
Samuel J. Green Charter School has created a rigorous and creative curriculum that focuses on blended and personalized teaching methods that addresses individual needs. Students benefit from hands-on learning through the network’s Edible Schoolyard New Orleans program. Students learn healthy ways to eat and live by engaging in classes in the facility’s large garden and state-of-the-art teaching kitchen.
The school offers flag football, soccer, baseball, softball and basketball. It is a founding member of the New Orleans Charter School Athletic Association. Enrichment activities include visual arts, dance, yoga, karate, band, Lego League, an entrepreneurs’ club and photography club. Samuel J. Greens Charter School’s blend of traditional and non-traditional courses caters to the mission of preparing 100% of the students for college, careers and a successful life.

Horrible ! Teachers are not patient with students.

I love this school. The school leader and staff are GREAT. The Edible Schoolyard is a great way to introduce relevant science and health lessons. The school is one of few great community schools in our city. LOVE GREEN!
