While the school enrolls students from all over New York City, before acceptance applicants must provide a writing sample in the form of an essay. The interdisciplinary curriculum involves frequent group work sessions, and STEM courses are combined into integrated math and science lessons for a comprehensive and well-rounded academic curriculum. My overall experience was really good. I had great and caring teachers that would worry about a student's well-being both out and inside the classroom.

There are a few positives --- I'm a huge fan of the student counselors, really like the advisory system (where students meet with the same homeroom teacher and students every day for all four years), and appreciate the school's communal feel. Now let's get into what I don't like. The academics aren't great --- the school has very few APs, insufficient STEM classes (only about 20% of seniors end up taking calculus, and the school doesn't consistently offer Regents-level physics or chemistry), and a barebones history program (a lot of classes offering ELA-history dual credit are really just ELA classes). The grading system is confusing and riddled with grade inflation. The school administration is extremely disorganized --- the college advising office rarely answers emails, and the 11th and 12th grades lost about two weeks of effective class time for the past two years because the administration couldn't complete student schedules by the start of the second semester.

The school is very cliquey and it's hard to have established friend groups. The school barely offers any AP courses (they only offer Ap research) The classes however are very interesting because teachers design their class. An example of this is Fear Itself which was a horror class

Bad. My son was in the class of 2016. The curriculum is not aligned to college readiness. There is too much group work that is not fairly graded. The administration does not communicate well with parents. This school has some good teachers, but the program in place does not prepare students well for...

Unfortunately the school does not even get closer of what they present in the open house. Very bad experience. I agree with the comment "poorly run", not organized at all. The office never answersthe phone, neither the emails. My daughter went there very optimistic and motivated, but she realized as...
