George Jackson Academy, located on St. Marks Place in the heart of Manhattan’s East Village, is a private, all-boys middle school that serves around 150 students in grades six through eight. Founded in 2003, the school is committed to preparing middle school-age boys for high school, college and a career.
Classes in the sciences and humanities offer coursework at least one grade level above the district standard. Latin, Spanish, art and music are also part of the school’s well-rounded curriculum. Although George Jackson Academy is nonsectarian, the school’s academic philosophy follows the Lasallian model of developing both the intellectual capabilities and the character of each student.
The unique year-round calendar for the school features 11 months of classes, with only a short break in June. Clubs and extracurriculars at the school include yearbook, community service, student newspaper, technology club, as well as television and radio news. George Jackson Academy is housed in a modern, brick building in the bustling East Village neighborhood, less than a block away from Tompkins Square Park.

This is one of the best school in The USA, great staff!. Our son went to his first summer classes before entering 7th grade and he loved it. The school has a very efficient way of communicating with the students' families and that makes the difference. We are very satisfied with their educational program and the discipline they help developed in every student.

I am parent of a GJA student for the past two years. My son has had a wonderful experience at the school with both the teachers and students. The teachers really help to develop the child with constructive criticism and encouragement when needed. Aside from academic development, my son has also developed his interest in cooking and art.

GJA has given my son multiple opportunities to be independent, responsible, and a leader. GJA always makes sure that my son excelles academically but also taking care of his well being as a person. GJA does a great job of making my son feel like he belongs in the community that hes in.

I am a proud parent of not one but two boys that attended this school. This school teach my boys how to become an independent young man.It teach them to be leaders.I recommend this school on a daily basis to ever parent i see with a young boy.
