The East Village’s Immaculate Conception School is private Catholic school that offers classes for students in prekindergarten through eighth grade. The school’s history stretches back to 1848, when the local parish administered to the needs of the immigrant population in the city’s former Gas House District. The Immaculate Conception School found its present home in 1946, when it moved into the premises of the vacated Grace Church. Students were originally taught by members of the Sisters of Charity religious order, but the school soon formed a dedicated professional faculty. The school’s curriculum exceeds the standards of both the New York State Department of Education and the learning guidelines of the Archdiocese of New York. Additional academic enrichment programs operate through the computer and science lab, and the school also offers several elective programs—the most popular of which are music and choir, where students sing at school concerts, religious services and during holiday celebrations. The school’s art studio offers a variety of lessons for creative students, and a partnership with the Children’s Art Guild allows for opportunities to display student art at city-wide exhibitions. A majority of the school’s students go on to attend prestigious city high schools, such as Xavier, the Bronx High School of Science and Brooklyn Technical High School, and a recent alumnus also won a full scholarship to Stanford University.

The school website does not recognize staff and students. There's no way to see a brief summary of them and no way to contact teachers directly, and the website hasn't been updated since June 2021...I was interested in enrolling my children but the website looks old and outdated.

It is great to see the lower elementary school teachers socialize, be friendly and assist each other and their students. I do not see that with the middle school teachers. I have heard many, many, negative, things about one of the middle school teachers about the teacher's negative, bullying and con...

I will be pulling my children out of this school by the end of the school year, they are in the process of being enrolled somewhere else where better services can be provided. Leadership skills are ineffective and students are not receiving what parents paid for.

This school is going downhill-for reasons too many to list, and it’s all because administration and and lack of communication and poor leadership. Please don’t torture yourself and your child by coming to this school. Staff are bullied by administration, it’s so sad.
