La Salle Academy is a celebrated all-boys Catholic high school founded by the De La Salle Christian Brothers congregation in 1848. The school has occupied its East Village home for so long that La Salle is considered a permanent and historic fixture of the neighborhood, but this long-standing college preparatory school has much more than longevity behind its name. Over 300 students in grades nine through 12 benefit from a sky-high graduation rate and a similarly high college placement rate, often attending prestigious schools such as Notre Dame, Colgate, Villanova and Cornell. Class offerings range from calculus and English composition to enrichment courses such as band, creative writing, art and drama. La Salle’s athletics and extracurricular programs are also robust and include baseball, basketball, cross-country, soccer and track, as well as a foreign language and culture club, Model United Nations, yearbook, debate, marching band and student government. The school’s sports programs have produced many successful athletes and notable alumni, such as the NBA star Metta World Peace, also known as Metta Sandiford-Artest. La Salle Academy is named for Jean-Baptiste de La Salle, the Catholic patron saint of teachers, and the school’s students proudly refers to themselves as “Christian Brothers’ boys.”

As a recent graduate of the class of 2024, La Salle is truly the best choice I made. Due to its small size, everyone knows each other. Faculty care so much for their students that they will do whatever it takes to make them succeed. The college preparedness will benefit rising juniors and seniors to see which college is right for them. I highly recommend any 8th graders do open houses and research on La Salle. We are truly one of a kind here in New York City. I can't thank La Salle enough for helping me succeed and prepare for my future.

I've been incredibly happy with La Salle and the impact the school has had on my son. I have watched him blossom into a bright young man taking on leadership roles. After attending a charter middle school, we were unsure of the right direction for his high school path. He has made wonderful friends, tried new sports, and he love the communication we receive from the teachers.

After being in La Salle Academy for almost about 2 years i can say that its definitely bin a good experience while being here. I say this because everyone is so respectful and so nice to each other and the teacher's are very funny and try their hardest to work with you one on one if your struggling. Something else i love about La Salle Academy is the large amount of sports and activities and their large selection of clubs that they have. The only thing i see that would need some improvement at La Salle is maybe their water fountains.

For being an all boys school I wasn't sure if I was going to like it.
