PS 75, or the Emily Dickinson School, is a public elementary school housed in a three-story, red brick building with a colorful mural painted on the walls of the school’s front entrance on West End Avenue. Educating just under 600 students in kindergarten through fifth grade, the school is named after one of America’s greatest poets. Literacy, math and the development of critical thinking skills form the cornerstones of the Emily Dickinson School’s standards-based Common Core curriculum. PS 75 features two English-Spanish dual-language classes per grade, and all students have access to classroom computers and tablets for interactive learning through technology. Twin science labs offer twice weekly sessions and the arts are not neglected at the Emily Dickinson School, with every student receiving weekly lessons in both art and music. PS 75 follows an cohesive curriculum that ties in similar themes throughout the learning materials for each grade level. For example, “Passport for Social Studies” is a lesson plan whereby each grade explores a selected social studies theme, which is integrated across disciplines into classes in music, art and reading. This neighborhood school is less than a block away from the parks and playgrounds off of Riverside Drive, and students love playing on PS 75's jungle gym, blacktop and basketball court facing West 95th Street. At the Emily Dickinson School, children of the Upper West Side build a solid educational foundation to become scholars of the city and also the world.

My family has been at this school for 8 years. I can't say enough good about it's art programs and support staff. There is an amazing parent culture and participation in your child's education and community is greatly encouraged.

We were a little nervous based on older reviews but PS 75 has totally exceeded all our expectations and, after 4 years with the first and now a second kid enrolled, we see the school continuing to grow and improve. The Spanish dual-language program is amazing - includes accelerated academics, like a...
