The School of the Blessed Sacrament is a private, coeducational grade school with two campuses on West 52nd and West 70th streets in the Hell’s Kitchen and Upper West Side neighborhoods of New York City.
The school is a merging of two long-established Catholic grade schools with a rich community history. The School of the Blessed Sacrament includes the Lower School, which serves students in kindergarten through third grade on the Upper West Side campus, and the Barry Upper School, which serves students in fourth through eighth grade on the Hell's Kitchen campus. The School of the Blessed Sacrament offers prekindergarten education for early learners as well.
The Barry Upper School utilizes an interdisciplinary education with a Common Core curriculum coupled with faith-based courses rooted in the Catholic tradition. The school infuses religion and faith into academic subjects by exploring ideas of personal identity, moral character and a greater sense of belonging in one’s community.
In addition to the Common Core classes, the Barry Upper School offers a variety of courses in the arts, Latin, computer science and physical education. The Upper School also offers after-school activities, including cross country, basketball and choir.
