My experience at Arts High School so far is good. The students are very different from each other and some teachers are really nice. The staff members also can be understanding at times.

Going to an Art high school was all I dreamt of when I was younger. When I entered my freshman year it did not fall short to my expectations. I was doing what I loved, experiencing new things and I was shown not only amazing opportunities, and academics but also community. My sophomore year I realized I was subconsciously holding myself back from class because I felt my artistic capabilities did not go as far as everybody's. Everyone always had art so easy but I couldn't pick up a pencil and I couldn't draw without crying. My Art teacher Mr, Fairfax asked me why I was late to class one day. I told him I had a bad morning. He asks me, "Did you wake up?" "yes?" I question. He smiled and said, "then it wasn't a bad morning." Mr. Fairfax brought me so much comfort in his words. it opened my eyes to a type of gratitude. It was like he was the only one who still believed in me. Who saw through all the other pieces of art and saw mine and thought I had too much to give up. So, I painted.

I am a graduate of Arts High School. My name is Juliane Gonzalez a graduate of the 2005 class! This school is an opportunity for young artist to perfect their craft and learn if the Arts is truly for them. It is truly more than a high school. This school could use more acclaim and financial funding...

I am an alumni of the school and now my daughter attends the school. I have noticed changes since my attendence but for the better; especially by adding dance as a new major which we did not have before. I moved back to NJ from PA but not immediately to Newark and what I noticed that we do not have...
