I felt very isolated at Newport High School because I was interested in media and arts. This was not typical for the average student, and I faced extreme criticism from my peers for wanted to branch out. I had some teachers and administrators I really loved, but at the same time did not always feel supported.

At Newport High School there is a lot of illegal paraphernalia that goes around. The school is doing their absolute best to get rid of it all. The teachers there are almost all very kind and supportive. Newport High isn't very diverse. It's filled with white poor kids or white rich kids and every 90 kids there is one black kid.

Newport High School has been quite a challenge. The biggest one is the administration not taking into consideration the thoughts and overall well being of their students. Many teachers jobs have been cut throughout the years. Many opportunities have also been cut from the students. Newport High School needs a huge transformation and needs more support from the people in its town.

Over all I think this school is good but in order to feel that way you need to have to want to succeed.

The school has a big issue with following IEP's. We transferred from a K-8 school and had an IEP meeting prior to my son entering 9th grade to insure a smooth transition. This was not the case, had to call and email for a month before they finally started his IEP. Once they started working with him...
