Gordon Elementary is among some of the top-performing schools in the state for overall test scores in math and reading, clearly achieving its mission of emphasizing and supporting high levels of achievement through global education. Prekindergarten through fifth grade students at this school have many options to meet their diverse needs as individual students. Besides core classes, students have four topics they engage with throughout the school year: music, art, physical education, and STEAM. In STEAM, students get the opportunity to develop problem-solving skills while exploring science, technology, engineering, art and math. This resource is designed to have students practice their communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity skills.
Students can also engage in school clubs that help build social skills and establish relationships among their peers. There can join Cub and Girl Scouts, Running Club and K Kid Club. A winter enrichment program is offered every January and is run by the school’s Parent Teacher Association. The program runs for six weeks, allowing students to explore new activities like clay, chess, cake decorating, mad science, creative writing, fashion design and more.
