GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I think the teachers really elevated my experience. Most of my teachers I had I liked, felt like they cared about me & my learning, and were really understanding and kind. However, I think the atmosphere can sometimes make shy people like me feel lonely. The cafeteria is awful is you don't have at least one friend in that lunch wave, I have been forced to be there alone because of that, and I just feel invisible. Even some of the staff there have just pretended I don't exist. The alternates to this are either the library or staying in a teacher's room, and by the way the library isn't open for first lunch so unless you know a teacher who will let you stay, they're during first lunch your out of luck. The building is old so some classrooms are either too warm or too cold, not enough charging cords, unless your classroom has windows your stuck with horrible artificial lighting. Hopefully the new building will solve this. There are some cool unique classes like textile which I love.

Some of my best experiences at my school were relevant to our performing arts and vocal music program because it is very inclusive. I feel that it is preparing me for future auditions or career opportunities. Some of my worst experiences were relevant to the academic work ethic because not everyone cares as much about their grades or their education as much as I feel that I do.

I liked how i made friends in all my classes, had amazing experiences with my school team as well as been given the ability to create new experiences. I learned so much through the outside aspects of school like school trips just as much as I do in school taking college level classes. I would like to see the ability to guide students to be a little bit better prepared for college though.

Just recently graduated in 2023, I had a good overall experience at Norwalk being very engaged in sports (Golf and Baseball Teams) and social events. At a school like Norwalk there’s definitely a mix of good and bad things and people which is why you need to surround yourself with good groups of peo...

My son graduated from NHS in 2020 and he was accepted into all of the colleges he applied to. I attribute this our involvement within his education planning and the activities that are available at NHS. Like every high school, there are the good, bad and ugly. So will start with the good - NHS has a...

Norwalk HS suffers from a combination of bad-teaching and just plain bad students... i asked a teacher recently why Norwalk is rated 4/10 an her answer was "minority students"... i was offended & appaled that a teacher would blame minorities at NorwalkHS for the deplorable school rating. Teachers ar...
