I've found Messalonskee High School to be one of the more open and welcoming schools in the area. The faculty and most students embrace all cultures and ideas, often discussing and debating in classrooms as well as within the community. Involvement in all activities from sports to the arts is encouraged for all and resources are used and appreciated. This has made Messalonskee High School one of the favorite places not only to learn, but to be.

Due to our small school, the comradery and community support are well established here. There is a lack of communication between some administration and schools that makes day-to-day school difficult. I would like to see an improvement in that communication. As well as an increase in diversity in extra curricular activities.

Messalonskee High School like any high school has its ups and downs. The best part of it is those certain teachers who really care about thier jobs and helping students reach thier goals. Unfortuently the biggest problem is the willingness to change. There have been leaps and bounds to help trans students in the past years but ofton times administators are to fearful of parent backlash. This paired with another issue of constently hireing teachers who do not know how to do parts of thier jobs and must rely on student help is difficult. I will state it is getting better. Change is slowly being brought and most of the time those teachers who care outway the ones who don't know what they are doing.
