With their high school counterpart’s mascot being a tiger, Palmetto Elementary School students are appropriately called Tiger Cubs. They range from pre-kindergarteners through fifth graders and all students are encouraged to “grow intellectually, socially and emotionally,” according to the school’s mission. Intellectually, special programs and classes cultivate the kids’ knowledge. A dual language program, for kindergarteners splits the school day into Spanish and English instruction. Older students can witness caterpillars turning into butterflies, watch chicks hatch and more in the school’s STEM lab. All students celebrate Literacy Week with themed days related to reading. Top students are recognized during an honor roll ceremony every year. Socially, the Tiger Cubs come together for fun events like Halloween and Spirit Week, held twice a year. Combining bonding and education, recent field trips have taken students to see manatees in their native habitat, Emerson Preserve Point and a local farm. Emotionally, pupils have opportunities for creative expression throughout the school year. An annual Earth Day commemoration involves musical performances and artwork. Theatrical kids can try their hand at drama, and those who love to draw can enter poster contests. In every way, Palmetto Elementary students will be poised to pounce as full-grown Tigers!

Amazing School and StaffI recently moved to the country, and my daughter began 1st grade at Palmetto Elementary School. She was understandably petrified—facing a new language, a new country, a large building, and so many students and teachers was overwhelming for her. Each morning was a struggle as...

The school is horrible. Ac too loud that kids can’t hear what the teacher ia saying. Teachers that we had were not experienced professionals. This school needs a revamp from staffing to building. Way too much homework and the funny thing is they are always asking for donations. Also the school does...

The worst school ever. My son attended this school for less then a year. He was hit by other students, we as parents were disrespected when we communicated our concerns, and the teachers and staff are incompetent. We did not have him complete the year due to safety issues. He is thankfully in a wond...
