Palmetto High School’s campus tells the story of its past and present – with a few of the original 1957 buildings among the approximately 70 structures. But many of its classes, such as robotics and digital information technology, look to the future.
The school’s curriculum varies to serve the needs and interests of all its students. College-bound honors students can take part in the Cambridge Assessment International Education program, a rigorous academic course of study that is recognized worldwide.
Those who plan to enter the workforce immediately after graduating may prefer the career and technical education track.
Palmetto High also has a performing and visual arts department that guides and molds budding studio artists, actors, TV producers and musicians.
Future farmers can prepare for a life in agriculture with classes like animal science and horticulture.
An active schedule of extracurricular activities ranges from service clubs and student government to the chess club and the student newspaper, the Prowl.
The school’s athletic department is busy throughout the year, with teams known as the Tigers competing in sports like basketball, softball, tennis, football, weightlifting, and swimming and diving.

The best part of Palmetto high school is the way you get to choose the classes you want to go into. If you want any extracurricular classes such as engineering or a foreign language you can get that class. The worst part is that though having a recently new building the overall campus is pretty worn down and it's outside so it sucks to walk through if it is burning hot or it is raining and we all get soaked.

A positive is that there some good teachers there that make learning their subject interesting . A negative is the way the school was built. Walking to class is awful. The pathway is all outside so whenever it rains everything gets flooded and there's a chance of you getting rained on. That's is one thing I would like to change.
