J. B. Passmore Elementary School is a part of the Northside Independent School District. Serving approximately 102,000 students, the district is the largest school system in south Texas. With a student body of approximately 438 and a student-to-teacher ratio of 12-to-1, which is well below the national average, Passmore serves pupils in pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. The pre-kindergarten program at Passmore can accept students as young as four years of age.
This campus takes part in the district’s Dual Language Program, a dual language immersion two-way bilingual program model which is research-based. This dual language model seeks to create bilingual, biliterate and bicultural students by developing their academic proficiency in English and Spanish. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum with courses in art, music, science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Qualified students can also take advantage of a Gifted and Talented Program.
In an effort to promote a mindset of lifelong wellness, Passmore uses both SPARK and CATCH curriculum in their physical education program. The physical education motto is “Active Student, Active Lifestyle.” In addition to the formal course offerings, Passmore also has a number of extracurricular programs. Students can take part in a cyber security club, choir, a strings or violin club and a gardening club, just to name a few.
