As a tuition-free charter school in the network of Great Hearts Academies, Archway Cicero serves students kindergarten through fifth grade in Central Scottsdale. With a mission to inspire students to love what is true, beautiful and good, the academy focuses on teaching children critical thinking. Here, faculty set high expectations for students through a rigorous liberal arts education. With a classical approach to learning, students not only achieve mastery in school subjects but also learn virtues to help make them more responsible individuals. In addition to math, science, literature, and foreign language immersion, music and the arts are also treated as equal subjects to promote creative thinking. When it comes to evaluating the students, the school focuses more on learning progress rather than simply looking at grades and numbers. Aside from an after-school program, the academy offers athletics, volunteer opportunities, and several extracurricular enrichment programs that might include theater, music, poetry, debate, writing, robotics or other arts.
