Tucked within a South Mountain residential neighborhood, John F. Kennedy Elementary is a public school serving more than 300 children in pre-kindergarten through third grade as part of the Roosevelt School District. Outside of a core curriculum that integrates technology, the school offers alternative education programs, art and music, a reading club, STEM Club, and student council. Students can develop a sense of community during spirit weeks and school-sponsored holiday events throughout the year, and expand their learning beyond the classroom on field trips to local museums and attractions. Among the programs offered by the district, students also can thrive in before- and after-school activities ranging from Mad Science and LEGO Building Bonanza to homework help and organized sports, among other programs designed for younger grade-schoolers. The school’s playground also hosts a trio of basketball courts and an open field with plenty of room for either games or unstructured play. To give back to the community, John. F. Kennedy Elementary participates in free mobile food distribution through a collaboration with St. Mary’s Food Bank. The school also offers an online Triple P Positive Parenting Program and virtual childcare training for adults through the Arizona Kith & Kin Project, with both programs available in English and Spanish. In and out of the classroom, John. F. Kennedy Elementary strives to improve the welfare of all its students and loved ones.
