Jubilee Christian School enriches its students in mind, body and spirit with a balance of outstanding academics and Bible-based principles.
Founded in 1987 with one teacher and five kindergartners in a classroom at Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church in Mt. Lebanon, it grew into a K-6 program over the next six years. The private school now enrolls over 40 students from a variety of Christian denominations in Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, along Washington Street in the northern end of town.
Students here learn academic disciplines in relation to monthly topics centered on science, social studies or language arts. Other studies such as math, art and music are integrated into the topic, teaching students how the concepts relate to each other across the curriculum. Students are given a standardized Terra Nova test every May and are assessed throughout the year in areas such as reading fluency, comprehension, math and spelling.
Jubilee Christian School’s teachings go well beyond desk work. Monthly educational field trips and hands-on activities supplement a Chromebook-integrated curriculum that includes STEM studies, LEGO robotics, art, music, Scripture, health, physical education and after school programs. Every March, all Jubilee students participate in an in-depth study of a foreign country. And the school recently added a Junior Achievement program to give students a head start toward economic success.
