GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The best parts are the supplies for all arts and academics, CAPA truly has everything you do and will ever need given at your fingertips at all time. They also allow a lot of free work time senior year to work on any colleges stuff you may need to complete. Giving you the most amount of colleges preparation. The worst is the safety because CAPA is located in downtown Pittsburgh PA, so like any city it can be unsafe and scary. CAPA does there best in the school aspect in keeping there students safe while in school.

Personally, I have had a great experience at CAPA. It is definitely not a school for everyone, but I love getting to spend half of my school day doing the art that I love, even though I don't plan to pursue it after high school. I can only speak to the theater department, but all of the teachers are extremely knowledgeable and want to see you succeed. On the academic side, there are less options for class choice, due to the way the CAPA schedule is. You really don't have a chance to pick your classes (besides AP/CAS/PSP) until you are a senior. I've felt like most of the teachers I have had are great, challenging students but also being understanding and supportive. People complain about the lack of sports at CAPA, but it is an arts school, and for me, it isn't an issue. CAPA can be cliquey, but it's a pretty friendly environment most of the time. You just have to understand what you are getting into, because CAPA won't be a good fit for everyone, and it's not meant to have everything.

I joined in 6th grade it was a great experience overall. There were some challenges with a few teachers but overall I overcame them, they have since left the school since I was in middle school. The dance major used to be bad but since James Manning came along, it has been shining better than before. I love the fact we get to perform and show off to the whole world, but I am going to miss CAPA

Let me preface this by saying that I am a current Junior at CAPA, I did not attend in middle school though so I can’t speak on the middle school experience whatsoever. That being said, CAPA is such a welcoming environment where students are able to nurture their passions in the arts and their chosen...

Pittsburgh CAPA is a sheep in wolves clothing. This school does not prepare your children for college and it is not a "shining star" in the district. The school caters to the "well to do" and it is a mockery of the public school system. The only reason it ranks in the top schools in PA is because of...

Unfortunately, CAPA falls far short of what it could be. It is not at all what the general public in Pittsburgh think it is. Only one student per year who graduates from the dance program chooses to pursue dance professionally. They seem to drain the passion out of the students rather than supportin...
