The best part about shady side academy is the amount of work they give you. It's the perfect balance to make you grow and not be stressed. The worst part is when you get homework in all classes. But I'm looking forward to the new middle school!

We removed our child from SSA last year after multiple incidents of unfairness in academics and sports. The children of the faculty go to school for free and treated favorably in every aspect putting regular students who pay their way at a disadvantage which can truly hurt them when applying to college. This is still a very insular school with certain families controlling everything. Including board and donor families. They have no conscience about treating people unfairly because it has always been this way. Unless you want your child indoctrinated into this very small bubble use your money wisely by choosing a nationally recognized prep school. I am not sure who is writing the reviews for this school but they do not reflect the actual experience.

Our child was enrolled at SSA for several years and we moved him to a prep school in New England as it was slightly more money but a better value. The insular, small town mentality at SSA was very concerning. Most of the faculty and staff were graduates that never move out of Fox Chapel and generation after generation of the same families attend this school for free tuition. The college placement is abysmal. The local public school places their students at the same colleges. Very over rated.
