Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh was founded in 1943 by Rabbi Sholom Posner, under the direction of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn. Since its early days of teaching a few students in the community, the private Orthodox Jewish institution has expanded many times over. It now provides a complete preK-12 education to more than 425 students from the Pittsburgh area, across the country and around the world at five schools on two campuses, both in Squirrel Hill South. In 1998, Yeshiva Schools was awarded the nationally recognized Blue Ribbon award for academic excellence. Its mission is to foster in each child a love of the Torah, awe of Hashem, refined character traits, and life and academic skills. Yeshiva Schools accomplishes this by cultivating a trusting partnership with parents, delivering an excellent academic experience covering both Judaic and general studies, furnishing positive role models, and building an environment that nurtures creativity, emotional awareness, spiritual growth, self-esteem and respect for others. Yeshiva Schools boasts an average student-teacher ratio of 6 to 1 over its five schools: preschool, girls elementary and girls high school at the Forbes Avenue campus, and boys elementary and boys mesivta high school at its Wightman Street campus a few blocks away. Both high schools offer comfortable, secure dormitories for out-of-state students that are within a short walk of the schools. Upon graduation, 71% of students from Yeshiva Schools go on to attend a four-year college.

They taught me how to learn, and I gained skills that are very relevant to my current college studies, such as essay writing and critical thinking and deductive thinking skills. I would like to see more extracurricular activities.

The principles are very involved with each student, and are always available for meetings. Their is an anti bullying policy as well as a uniform that they strictly enforce. Attendance is very important, and tardiness is not accepted, a certain amount earns detention. The office staff are very good at their job as well as making sure the security is in good condition.
