I moved to the Southeast Polk school district during my Freshman year of high school. I was very supported and didn't feel like I didn't have anyone I could talk to. The teachers are very nice, but the students are iffy at times. What I would like to see changed will most likely not be changed, just because of the area I live in, but it would be nice if the students here could be more inclusive. Southeast Polk is somewhat diverse, but I would more diversity.

I have had some really good teachers that have helped me in many ways. I have also had some coaches that I will remember forever because of the impact they had on me. One coach in particular is a big part of why I still run cross country because he was always supporting me and pushing me to become better. That is something that I will always remember.

I would like to see a more diverse culture within the high school. As well as more funding for the fine arts programs. I do enjoy that we are doing a block schedule now to better prepare students for college life. However I do not like standards based grading. For example kids who don't do any homework can still get A's and the fact that I can't get a (4) 100% unless I know stuff that I have never been taught about does not make any sense.

Poor communication. The counselors we have been assigned unwilling to help resolve issues when they arise causing my students to miss important opportunities. My 4.2 GPA student was unable to apply for National Honor Society or test for National Merit Scholarship because we were not notify of these...
