Located on East Pleasant Valley Road, Richard Bard Elementary is less than a mile from U.S. Naval Base Ventura County-Port Hueneme.
The school, which serves approximately 600 students in transitional kindergarten through fifth grade, is one of two schools in the district to offer a dual-immersion program.
Richard Bard Elementary provides a supportive, nurturing learning environment with annual events including Read Across America, as well as a visual and performing arts open house. At Richard Bard Elementary School, students are provided opportunities to learn in a collaborative environment that includes a focus on reading, math, the arts and technology. Classrooms are equipped with the latest technology tools. Parents are encouraged to participate in the school community and to support their children’s learning. The school holds parent education programs and has a School Site Council, as well as an English Learner Advisory Committee.

After several meetings with leadership/childish ideas of recording/capturing teacher in-class behavior, we elected to focus on what is really important and pull our student out in order to get him into an environment that could better meet his educational needs and goals and allow him grow unhindere...

Wonderful school. They have a brand new principal and many new staff members who have really changed the atmosphere of the school. New iPads in the classrooms and a great focus on PE and the arts. Their GATE program is outstanding and they brought back band for 5th graders.
