Portland Raiders prepare to reach their college and career goals at Portland High School. Home to a large student body, this northern Portland educational institution offers some of the highest-rated academics in Ionia County. Thanks to the faculty’s commitment to academic integrity and exploratory courses, students have many opportunities to find their passions and prepare for life beyond high school. The Portland Early College Program allows students starting as early as ninth grade to take college courses. The students learn how to interact in a community and how to treat each other and those they come in contact with respect.

The teachers are very friendly and care about their students. The administration is working to update the school in areas like safety, bathrooms, and technology. There has been a lot of improvement in the last year, but there is still a long way to go. Most books being used are outdated and falling apart, but there are now chrome books that most classrooms use.

If you have a high schooler please just look at a different school. If you haven't grown up here then no one will stand up for you or your child when your child is being targeted.

Even though the scores are very concerning (i.e. only 30% of 11th graders are proficient in math and science; reading is the only subject where 11th graders even reach half of students being proficient), I still gave an average, 3-stars, due to these scores actually being what's average out there in...
