GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have attended Portsmouth City Schools my entire life. I have never been denied an opportunity because of my skin color or any of my differences. Portsmouth offers many great sports programs, clubs and after school activities, so there is always something to do. Our motto at Portsmouth City Schools is " You belong here" and I firmly support it. Portsmouth has done a great job of making all students feel like they belong and we are not only a school, but a family. I'm extremely grateful for my soon to be alma mater and I am forever proud to be a Trojan.

Teacher at PHS are really good at doing their job. They know what they are doing most of the time. Some have been known to try to connect with students more than others. Overall the teachers are amazing at teaching the lesson in a manner that all of the students are able to understand.

Staff is caring, they go above and beyond for their students. My child is graduating with 12 hrs of college credit and it did not cost our family anything.
