Caw Caw Interpretive Center
An advanced studies program for elementary aged students sounds like a big undertaking, but at EB Ellington Elementary School, it’s all in a day’s work. Offering a variety of arts and STEM based curricula to students in grades K-5, the program allows students to explore content related to their own unique interests.
Home of the Eagles, Ellington is a constituent magnet school for Charleston County District 23 and is a choice school for the district. Students from outside the district may apply according to availability. The school focuses on the uniqueness of each student while helping students value the diverse perspectives of others. At each grade level, one classroom delves deeper into the curriculum and utilizes a Project Based Learning approach to apply what students learn to real-world situations.
But it’s not all work and no play for these Eagles. Ellington also offers visual arts, music, dance, and drama, and their partnership with Charleston Stage features an afterschool drama program for students in grades 3-5. There’s also a comprehensive physical education program that focuses on wellness.
Ellington offers an after-school program through 21st Century that brings in even more opportunities for students including arts, karate, and African Drumming to name a few.
