Extremely competitive nature amongst the students and facilitated by teachers. Very STEM focused with little other subjects taught.

My mom forced me to go to this school. The community is extremely disingenuous and judgmental. The teachers are extremely strict and many were even combative. Certain teachers would make their subjects as stressful as possible even if the class was not inherently difficult. They lack humility and concern for students' mental health. Some teachers would randomly call on students to catch them off guard and embarrass them in front of the class. I felt like I wasn't able to voice my opinion in this school and even though I ended with a 3.5+ GPA I still felt humiliated and ashamed. It's not fit for the vast majority of students and I personally would not recommend it compared to any normal school.

It's a genuinely good school, but it lacks acknowledgement of mental health of the students. I feel like there's room for improvement. The classes are hard, but the teachers are great help. The workload is also a lot, but time management is taught for those who need it. It preps you for college in terms of students need to think about themselves and go to teachers on their own to figure out grades and really anything.

It's been a mixed experience. If we had it to do over again, I would have encouraged our child to attend a regular high school. I think the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. Tesla STEM is an amazing school and the teachers move on to the next subject only once you've understood it. There are also many opportunities to make up for a bad grade.

Stem is an academically rigorous school. There's a lot of competition and comparison within the student body that some can find to be a very toxic environment.
