Riverside High School (Riverside), located at Upper Belmont Place in Leesburg, guides and educates approximately 1,800 ninth through 12th grade students from throughout the Lansdowne on the Potomac neighborhood Riverside’s stated mission is “empowering all students to make meaningful contributions to the world,” and nearly 90% of Riverside High School graduates go on to higher education. The school’s strategic goals are to develop critical thinkers, communicators, collaborators, creators, and contributors; cultivate a high-performing team of professionals, and effectively support student success. Riverside students, proud to be the Riverside Rams, can opt to participate in career and technical education programs including marketing, business and information technology, personal finance/marketing, family and consumer sciences, technology, engineering, and business. Student-athletes compete in a range of Group 3A athletics including fall sports such as cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, and volleyball. Winter sports include basketball, gymnastics, indoor track, swimming, and wrestling. In the spring baseball, crew, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and track and field are offered. To further develop their talents, Riverside students can choose from nearly 100 extra-curricular activities such as academic honor societies, language clubs and honor societies, Distributive Education Clubs of America, Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society, music and theatre programs, and an award-winning marching band.

School events are great like the pep rallies and Winter Fine arts performance, but the school is bad at disseminating important information effectively.

My overall experience at Riverside is really good. Riverside has a great variety of classes and clubs. However, they don't provide the same opportunities for all year students. For example, some clubs are only available to juniors and seniors even though most freshmen and sophomores are just as capable to be in those clubs.

My school is great at being inclusive and provides the right resources for you to succeed. We have a wide range of clubs and classes that makes the experience entertaining and engaging.

Each year, it's a mixture with good teacher/bad teachers. There are some truly great teachers and there are other who are slow in updating the gradebook (parentVUE) or slow to respond..but even those teachers have great quality so I had to use the phrase "Bad Teachers". Some truly amazing teachers, but too many ineffective ones that used covid as an excuse to do nothing - even for AP classes. Administration is oblivious to their incompetent staff and faculty at best - at worst, they just don't care. I had to take on the job of case manager for my oldest, demand act...
