“Find your balance.” That’s one of seven Essential Habits of the Diamond Creek Trailblazers. Located in northwest Roseville’s Blue Oaks neighborhood, Diamond Creek Elementary School was established in 2001 and provides TK to 5th grade instruction for 631 students. The school boasts a strong parental involvement in classrooms and field trips, and is revered for its robust technology usage, with upper grades relying upon Chromebooks and lower grades utilizing iPads for educational enrichment. Students are encouraged to adopt a well-rounded repertoire of activities through Diamond Creek’s music education program, as well as its Spring Running Club for 3rd and 5th graders. School officials take pride in the Young Rembrandts, where students can acquaint themselves with painting techniques, as well as Breakfast and Books, a before-school reading club with the principal, during which students are given an opportunity to discuss their thoughts and opinions. Diamond Creek Elementary School is praised for its remarkable scholastic achievement, with 66% of students scoring at or above the proficient level in math, and 64% scoring at or above proficient in reading. Teachers and school officials aim to foster a collaborative learning environment throughout the school, relying on its Village System, in which students are split into one of seven groups. This model serves as a source of positive peer pressure, cross-grade interaction, and creative expression. Diamond Creek Elementary School is future-oriented and prepares students for an evolving 21st century, one in which technology and independent thinking will ensure their success above the rest.
