Established in 2015, Capital Innovations Academy is a private, nonreligious school that prides itself on preparing sixth through 12th grade students for the future through a mix of technology, arts-based learning and community service.
Emphasizing the school's focus on individualized learning, students can choose from five majors: science, social studies, music, visual arts or theater. Hands-on learning and innovative instruction are used to measure each student's progress within their respective programs.
Students who are interested in self-paced or part-time learning are accommodated by Capital Innovation Academy's home school and independent study programs. These allow for flexible schedules and enrichment opportunities while still integrating students into the larger school community.
Capital Innovations Academy also offers the Early to College Program, allowing students who qualify to enroll in community college courses tuition-free to get a jumpstart on higher education. Besides academics, the school also provides unique extracurriculars, such as archery and Krav Maga self-defense classes.
