My experience at Rio Americano High School was overall smooth sailing. I did not have much problems with my education, there was a good selection of courses, and I did not have big problems with any of my teachers. I just did not have an enjoyable experience culturally, we did not have big school spirit compared to other schools so our student union wasn't amazing, but besides my cultural experience Rio Americano wasn't bad.

I choose Rio Americano high school because of their Civitas Program which is a unique program that teaches us politics and citizenship. I would recommend if you want to work hard but if you're not a hard worker then don't. We have some pretty good teachers and councilors. We have good sports and each year they got better.

I have loved my time at Rio Americano High School. I have a great group of friends and we love to go to all of the events that Rio has. The one thing I would change is where the majority of the funding goes. The band program is wonderful but gets a lot of the VAPA funding, leaving many of the other visual and performing art classes with very little money to use.

This school needs to pay more attention to what happens on campus. Kids smuggle in drugs and other substances and smoke in the bathrooms.

This review is an update to our son who is now in 11th grade. Rio, like any school, has issues. The schools needs more counselors. Each graduation year has 1 counselor… so up to 450 students per counselor. This is not acceptable. Long waits for students to talk or our phone calls getting answered.Cl...

If your child has a learning disability, is low income, or has any mental health issues DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. Rio Americano staff and some teachers provided little to no resources, denied students accommodations, and were frankly rude while doing it. The counselors (exept Mrs. Jensen) do not care a...

I'll state upfront that COVID and the stay-at-home order along with distance learning definitely put a damper on my child's high school experience. That said, this school lacks unity and school spirit. "Rio", as it is called, is a school where, for lack of a better word, the snobs go. The affluent w...
