What began in 1940 with a population of about 12 girls, St. Francis high school now serves about 1,025 young women, with a student-teacher ratio of approximately 15-to-1. While the academic standards at this school are rigorous, students are set up to succeed thanks to the school’s academic support, tutoring programs and guidance department. Classes include modern and classical languages, STEM studies, advanced placement classes, theology and art. School spirit runs high at St. Francis, where Troubies compete in all types of athletic programs, including volleyball, softball, swimming, track and cross country — just to name a few. The campus is nicely landscaped and includes seasonal flowers and attractive statuary. St. Francis Catholic High School is a well-known institution — students must apply for entrance. The location off Elvas Avenue is convenient to Highway 50, making it easy to get to this school from nearby communities.

Overall, I personally have had an amazing experience at St. Francis. The staff have been incredible and they are always willing to help. If I'm struggling in a class, I know they are always a resource I can use.

We are just starting out but so far have been very impressed by the level of communication and the welcome provided by the school. It is stressful to start a new school but the administration and teachers have made it much less scary so far.
