The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

Further years in high school are spent on college readiness, which have yet to pay off. The school has troubles with keeping staff, but the staff they keep are generally competent.

Umoja is a great school for students who are okay with a smaller class and an academic focus. Umoja offers the IB Program which is great for college readiness and the teachers are amazing and offer one on one help to everyone because of our size. Umoja is not at all ideal for student athletes, or students who want other specialized electives excluding art.

My daughter is a straight A's student however, since she went here last year her grades went downhill. Most of the kids use profanity and there's always a fight going on.

The students shouldn't want to go there to hangout, play, get on their phone...etc. How do I know this? Look at my son's Facebook page and the students at KCMS post pictures...
