Litzsinger School is part of the Special School District of St. Louis County (SSD). Services in the SSD are based on each student’s Individualized Education Plan. Litzsinger serves students ages five to 14 who demonstrate a wide range of abilities. Enrollment is around 130 students, and attendees live in several area school districts, including Ladue, Brentwood, Clayton, Kirkwood, Maplewood-Richmond Heights, Normandy, Pattonville, Ritenour, University City, and portions of Parkway and Rockwood. School programs include Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), which recognizes students for appropriate behavior. Teachers also implement instruction on social skills and adherence to school rules to encourage student learning. Beyond basic classroom settings, Litzsinger campus also offers a library, occupational and physical therapy center, art room, computer lab, and reading room. Each student is taught the basic philosophy behind all of the school's efforts, which is simply: Be Safe. Be Kind. Be Peaceful. Be Cooperative. The driving mission of the school is to provide individualized education to each student that addresses their unique learning styles, promotes character development, and empowers students to contribute to their community.
