Jubilee—Westwood is a part of the Jubilee Academies Charter Schools, headquartered in San Antonio. Established in 2000, the Jubilee family of schools has grown to serve nearly 6,000 students at 12 sites across 4 regions in Texas. The Westwood campus serves approximately 350 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Employing a Project Based Learning philosophy in all classrooms, Westwood engages students at a personal level in real-world issues and projects. This learning philosophy is designed to provide students opportunities to use higher-order thinking skills along with fostering a collaborative mindset among students.
The teaching techniques used by the staff are in pursuit of Westwood’s mission to provide “a nurturing community focused on leadership and educational excellence.” With a set of diverse academic offerings, Westwood gives students some excellent choices. Standard curricula include science, mathematics, reading and social studies. The Career and Technical Education Program includes offerings in culinary arts, theater arts, music, art and graphic design. Westwood believes in education that focuses on the whole child, not only pursuing scholastic excellence, but also giving attention to the physical wellbeing of each student through their physical education program.
