Bernardo Heights Middle is dedicated to teaching Bobcats "to be positive, to be responsible, to have integrity, to be determined and to be engaged.” That’s one of the things that many Rancho Bernardo locals love about this California Distinguished School. Nominated for the National Blue Ribbon award, Bernardo Heights Middle had a humble start as a so-called “trailer campus” for precocious sixth graders in 1988. Since then, Bernardo Heights Middle now shares the exact same driveway as its sterling sister school, Rancho Bernardo High. Celebrated for its above-average test scores, academic progress and equity, this magnificent middle school is the most promising institution in the Poway Unified School District. On top of that, this mission-oriented middle school provides a bustling before and after program that will keep your kid busy from dawn ‘till dusk. Bernardo Heights Middle is also the home of homework study halls, creative computer labs and amazing athletic teams. Students can hone their learning skills by taking part in the school’s one-of-a-kind block schedule. From exciting electives and powerful PE classes to learning lessons and camp opportunities, Bernardo Heights Middle is full of optimistic offerings for sixth to eighth graders.

We have our last child at BHMS. They have all enjoyed the school very much. Teachers are wonderful and the administration is also great and very receptive to communication with parents and students alike. Many different clubs and activities for kids to join in to feel as if they are part of their school community. BHMS has been an amazing experience for all of our kids.
