Built in the early 1950s, Florence Elementary services San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood, offering classes for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The school's facilities have seen a number of upgrades throughout the years, including new security doors installed in the main building as well as comprehensive air conditioning installed in 2018. The faculty also plans to put up exterior fencing around the facilities in spring of 2022. In addition to practical upgrades, the school also facilitates a positive learning environment by posting inspirational messages and colorful posters throughout the campus.

Students looking to get involved with leadership can join the student council and safety patrol, while Florence also connects its pupils to a number of community service opportunities.
